Birthday blossoms and butterflys

Hello my fellow crafters

Well Lili of the Valley are having a 10th Birthday Party and have challenged everyone to make them a Birthday card for their monthly challenge on their inspiration blog.  So, being a  LOTV addict, of course I had to have a go, and I decided that such a special company deserves a special card, and that I would finally have a go at making an explosion box.

For the cover I used my favourite Baskets of Roses stamp which I was lucky enough to win in one of their super prize  draws. I coloured it with my spectrum Noir pens and used LOTVs Promises pad to back it.

Here is the side view with the little tag, flowers are a mix from mainly Ribbon Girl, Hobycraft and WOC.  The hearts are embossed with my favourite trellis embossing folder.

Off comes the lid............

It opens out as three layers and in the centre is a box covered with flowers which opens at the top to   hold a present or note.  Each layer is decorated with stamps and papers from LOTV.  I think I have used every one I have, and a variety of tags pull out to write messages or journaling on. I though it could be a memento of the day in a box with pictures of all the demonstrations and the design team and all the exciting events at the birthday party. Some of the flowers and the butterfly's are on Acetate strips to make them fly out from the box when it opens out.

The centre box opens up for a present, some chocolate perhaps or a Gift voucher.

Here are some views of the various leaves.

The little bears are from the Posy Trio stamp

This is called new Shoes and here I used the full stamp

James Daisy coloured with the Dots technique that I used in an earlier card

I left the under taps free for photos or Journaling of the day

I also added some blank tags for the same purpose

New shoes stamp again but cut in a circle and coloured differently

Tea for two stamp holds the Friends tag in place

More Tags, embossed with my Trellis folder

A Heart shaped tag for the bottom layer

The butterfly was a memory box die cut

I twisted the flower stems into springs to make them spring out and put some of them on acetate strips along with the butterflies

Some other views of my finishing touches tag with flower garnish,
a small butterfly, how the heart tags fit into the leaves and a lovely
                                                       sentiment stamp from dreamy days

Thank you for visiting my blog, I hope you like my card and hope it inspires you to have a go at an explosion box.  It is a lot of work but not as hard as it looks and really fun to do, and really satisfying when you see the finished effect..  I am so glad I had a go at last.

May I take this opportunity to wish LOTV a marvellous birthday celebration, I wish I could go but it is too far however I will be with you in spirit and watching your facebook page thinking of you all

  10. Hi Maria,
Thank you for following me back on both of my blogs as you have just become the 100th follower on my Butterfly challenge (blogger showing 103 but count is wrong) and I would like to send you a little gift in recognition. (butterfly themed of course). Please send me your details to the email address in the right hand coloumn. I cant use the contact form as it just hangs there (I have tried using it on a few other blogs and the same happens. Don't know if blogger now has a problem with that , like it did with not being able to follow people until they fixed it or if it is just my computer.) Hugs Mrs A. Butterfly Challenge.
